Welcome to art at ZCS with Mrs Pacanowski!

 This is a place where I will tell parents what was taught in art to their child and then click here to see student artwork!  Please visit often!

Week 1- September 5- Name Mola

Procedure

  1. Students will write their first initials, extending the letters off the page. 
  2. They will choose a pattern of 4 colors for their project.
  3. They will outline their names with a marker trying to keep close to their names as well as not bump into their name
  4. They will continue to draw around the outermost line until they fill the whole paper, "jumping" off and back onto the page as needed. 
  5. They will fill in the space between lines with a variety of line designs.

 

Objectives

  1. Fine moter development in outlining

  2. Classroom procedure/following directions

  3. Knowledge of the word mola

  4. Skill in writing their initial a different way

  5. Choosing and using a pattern

 

 

 

Week 2- September 17- VanGogh's Sunflowers

Procedure

  1. Students will look closely at the shapes they see in the petals, leaves and insides of a sunflower

  2. They will use crayon/oil pastel to draw the sunflower and details.

  3. Students will learn about watercolor resist and will paint overtop of their sunflower so the paint resists the wax

 

Objectives

  1. introduction and exploration of watercolor resist

  2. drawing skills 

  3. wash painting
  4. talk about seasons and the many flowers that grow in the summer (to supprt the K curriculum

 

Week 3- October 3-Andy Warhol Hands

Procedure

  1. Each student will trace around one time and then cut out 3 drawings of their hands

  2. They will glue down the cut outs of their hands onto 3 different brightly colored papers

  3. Students will make 3 prints of their hands with paint on top of the cut out hands

  4. Students will use 3-D paint to outline the handprints and create dimension

  5. Each student will mount all 3 hands onto a black paper for a "handy" warhol series

 

Objectives

  1. introduction of pop artist Andy Warhol
  2. cutting skills
  3. gluing skills
  4. knowledge of printmaking

 

Week 4-October 17-Secondary Colored Trees

 

Procedure

  1. We will look at the art work of paul cezanne
  2. Students will make secondary colors one at a time from a pallette of just the 3 primary colors
  3. They will paint the ground green, the trunk and branches purple and the leaves orange
  4. Students will use different brush texture of each color that they use to paint

 

Objectives

  1. introduction to artist Paul Cezanne
  2. knowledge of color mixing
  3. skills in painting and properly holding and using a paintbrush

 

Week 5- October 31- Leaf Jumpers

Procedure

  1. We will look at our friend, shadowman and see all the different ways he can bend and jump and realize how great it is that we have knees and elbows.
  2. Students will draw gesture drawings of kids jumping and doing all sorts of actions
  3. They will learn body proportions and parts for drawing. 

 

Objectives

  1. Introduction to human drawing and body proportions
  2. Students will become familiar with gesture drawings

 

Week 6 November 14-Eric Carle

  1. We will look at the art of author/illustrator Eric Carle
  2. Teacher will explain the definition of and how to create a collage
  3. Each child will create a tissue paper collage

 

Objectives

  1. Students will learn how to create a collage
  2. Students will see how colors mix to create other colors
  3. Students will recognize and appreciate the style of Eric Carle.

 

 

Week 7-November 28-Eric Carle continued

 

Week 8- December 12- Op art

Procedure

  1. Students will look at art work by famous op artist, Victor Veresely
  2. They will use marker to create op art drawings that "trick their eyes"
  3. Students will learn to jump over lines and try to keep lines parallel to each other

 

Objectives

  1. knowledge of creating parallel lines
  2. skill in drawing lines close together and not letting them bump into each other
  3. success in creating their own optical illusion

 

Week 7-November 28 and December 12- Eric Carle Animals
